ABOUT OUR PROJECT
We are building a language differentiator to determine what language is being spoken. Currently, we are only analyzing English and Mandarin speakers because they have fairly distinct differences. Our starting phrases for both languages consist of:

"How are you today?"

"What time is it?"
-
"University of Michigan College of Engineering"
-
"Go Blue!"
We felt that these phrases are varied enough to allow our system to process the audio and determine the language effectively due to their unique sound in both languages. We are hoping that by the end of our project, we can determine which origin language a particular phrase is with reasonable accuracy.
