What We've Learned So Far
Language signal processing has found applications in many ways, from speech to text software to translators, but we were surprised as a group to find that there are so many resources, tools, and studies that are accessible and that detail how to perform analysis on these signals. In particular, we've found the tools at this link to be very interesting. This is a collection of audio signal processing tools that are built as a Matlab plugin, so we hope to leverage these tools to help us analyze our samples.
Some of the more useful tools in this suite include speech analysis (Spectrograms, etc.), speech enhancement (reduce spectral noise), and speech recognition functions. This is just one example of a resource we've found that has to do with speech processing specifically, and it's been interesting to us how much is out there for us to use.
